Member Violations of Standards of Conduct

A South Kitsap School District Long Range Facility Planning Committee meeting held on March 11th. During this SKSD Board Advisory Planning Committee member Austin made inappropriate comments and berated school board director Daily at the conclusion of this meeting. Member Austin's comportment and comments are not in keeping with or in compliance with SKSD board polices and standards. In accordance with SKSD Board Resolution 1336 and policy OE-3 set for the following: "Expectations OE-3 "Relationship with Stakeholders requires committee members to maintain an open and responsive organizational culture. This policy requires treating students, parents, staff, and the public with respect, dignity, and courtesy". Clearly, such inappropriate comments and behaviors could be perceived as hostile and not conducive to good order and discipline when serving on SKSD committees. Communications with and treatment of school board directors in this manner is never acceptable.

Any citizens in our community selected to serve on a district or school board advisory committee have obligated themselves in writing, to abide by district governance polices. Mr. Austin's comportment does not meet these required standards and Mr. Austin should be dismissed from further service on this committee.
